About Me

Hi! I’m Rachel. 

I am excited to meet you and share my passion with you. I am a mommy to one little 3 year old bug, who keeps me on my toes with makeovers, dancing, and playing kitchen. I am lucky enough to be married to an amazing man.  He is former Naval Submariner and now I’m lucky enough to have him home all the time.

 

I currently teach at a Catholic school in Virginia. I began in the preschool classroom and moved to kindergarten last year. I love teaching.  I love reading to young children. Children’s books are one of my favorite things. I’m so excited that there are so many  children's books to teach writing and reader’s workshop. The workshop model is my favorite and I use it constantly in my classroom.  I’m blessed to be able to teach the whole child and that includes an opportunity to use play and inquiry in my classroom.

I received my B.S. in Early Childhood Education from Boston University and loved every moment of it. I learned to love the inquiry process and set up classrooms that focus on the child not the teacher. In fact, I’m kind of obsessed with arranging classrooms. My kids joke about it with me all the time.

In addition, to teaching I love exploring our little town, trying new restaurants, and feeding the horses with my little bug. I have recently become a Beachbody Coach and love finding a way to squeeze working out into a teacher’s schedule. I look forward to sharing my journey through teaching with you all!
